Jelly's abdomen has been opened up, and her uterus carefully lifted out. Her uterus has two horns -- think of it as a curved U shape -- and each one is opened individually, and each puppy removed.

Pups are handed off to one of the several vet technicians waiting nearby with clean towels. Each pup is rubbed down, fluid carefully shaken out of their lungs and syringed from their nose and mouth, weighed and then, when doing well, placed into an incubator.

Pictured above is Jelly's cream daughter, about to be placed into the incubator with her siblings. Notice that her eyes are closed- they will remain closed until aproximately ten days. Until then, puppies navigate by smell and temperature. Notice that, as she is a cream colored Frenchie, her skin pigment is pink - it will 'fill in' gradually with her adult coloration. On darker colored puppies, pigment is often already present at birth.
