The puppies and Jelly have been brought home and placed in the whelping box. While Jelly is still in a resting, half awake state, she has expressed interest in her puppies, and does not mind when they are put against her. If she accepts this, we will gently roll her over and help them to begin nursing.

Lightly squeezing Jelly's nipples to produce colostrum, and then placing the nipple near the mouth of the puppy, is usually all that is required. Puppies are remarkably instinct driven from birth.
