Breed Winners of the FBDCA National Specialty
I believe that keeping track of specialty winners is essential to understanding the breed. Being able to view the dogs which have been judged through the years as the "best of their breed" gives us a clear view of the changes which have occurred to both the structure of the dogs, and the taste of their breeders and fanciers. It's interesting to me to be able to look at Dimboola, winner of the very first ever FBDCA Specialty, and recognize his attributes in Frenchies we see today - albeit more so now in bitches than in dogs!
With the help of Colette Secher, Jan and Mike Grebe and various other members of the FBDCA, we've attempted to collect as many images and as much data as possible on the winners of the French Bull Dog Club of America National Specialty.

Current stats as of 2006 - of 96 shows with records, 29 have been won by bitches (with Dimboola counted), for aprox. 30.2% of all wins. Ch Bouquet Nouvelle Ami is still the all time top winner, with four specialty wins in 1953, '54, '56 and '57.
