About Absolut and Bullmarket French Bulldogs
About Bullmarket French Bulldogs
I became involved with my Grandmother's mastiffs from early childhood, but decided I wanted something smaller when I decided to venture into dog breeding myself. I knew that I wanted something strong, muscular and bold - a big dog, in a small package. French Bulldogs seemed to fit that bill, and I obtained my first one in 1990.
French Bulldogs are a passion for me, but they are definately not how we make our living. When not obsessing over the Frenchies, I work as a programmer and web designer (with an emphasis on pet and agricultural related web sites), and I also design and maintain frenchbulldogz.org, frenchbulldogphotos.com, frenchbulldoglinks.com, frenchbulldogplanet.com and seven (!) more French Bulldog related websites.
We're located just outside of the small village of Mount Forest, Ontario. Mount Forest is about an hour and change north of Guelph, or two hours from Toronto. We have just over four acres of property, with an entire floor of our house pretty much devoted the sole comfort of the Frenchies. The dogs have their own fenced play yard to enjoy, with almost forty acres of protected forest behind us with rambling walking trails for the dogs to explore with us. All in all, it's a pretty idyllic lifestyle.
About Absolut French Bulldogs
Barb Brown is based in the utterly fabulous and totally touristy Traverse City, Michigan, home of the world famous Cherry Festival. She has the enviable luck of sharing her home with Dr. Chris Bruning, of Brookside Animal Hospital, which gives her and the dogs their own personal vet-in-residence.
Barb got her first show dog 30 years ago - an Afghan Hound out of Kelly's Big John. She has finished, shown and bred Afghans, Cockers and Akitas. When Barb got old and fat, she decided to acquire her first French Bulldog, figuring that she might as well own dogs who were as happy to sit on the couch as she was.
Her first French Bulldog was Citadell's Shotsilk Hillary, who she co owned with Norma Gibson Smith of 'Amron' French Bulldogs. It was Norma who handled Ch Bullmarket Versace during his show career and to his BOB win at the Gardens. Hillary was out of Ch. Jaguar's Ajax Rocko and Ch Smashers Francine. She had two litters of puppies, and produced four champions, and was the Grandmother of Daisy, Ch. Firesides' Snow Belle, foundation bitch of Fabelhaft French Bulldogs. Hillary lived to fourteen years of age, each day of which she spent fervently wishing that Barb would get rid of the rest of the dogs. Barb and Norma bred and co owned several French Bulldogs together, and still co breed from time to time.
