Rebel - JP BIS CH Bullmarket Versace
| Birth: | 1995-09-29 to 2006-07-13 | |
| Sire: | CH Bandog's One In A Million | |
| Dam: | Le Bull's Achey Breaky Heart | |
| Breeder: | C Gravestock-Taylor & A Toye |
One of a litter of three boys, BIS JP/AM Ch Bullmarket's Versace was quite simply the most adorable puppy we had ever seen. We had very high hopes that Rebel would develop into a decent looking adult, but he went on to become even better than we'd hoped.
Sired by the beautiful cream BIS BISS Ch Bandog's One In A Million, out of Le Bull's Achey Breaky Heart, Rebel had his father's cobby body and gorgeous head piece, with his mother's amazing gait, perfect breathing, and fearless personality. This was truly one of those once in a life time 'nicks' - an outcross that for some reason just clicks perfectly.
After finishing up his American championship in just under four weekends
of showing, Rebel topped off his show career by winning Best of breed
at the Westminster Kennel Club show at Madison Sqaure Gardens (a fact
which I once had to spend three days verifying,
due to claims by annoyingly persistent rumor spreaders that his win
was 'invalid').
He did this at just over one year of age, making history as only the second pied in the history of the breed to do so (and so far as we know the first ever OFA good Frenchie to win there). Reb was handled by Norma Gibson, of Amron French Bulldogs.
Rebel was used at stud limited times, once producing Ch Bullmarket's Nasdaq, CD. He is also the sire, via frozen semen, of our lovely little Delilah. Interestingly, Rebel has sired at least ONE of every AKC color -- brindle (in various degrees from dark to tiger), cream (in shades from almost white to apricot), snow white, black masked fawns from deep red to silver, red fawn pieds and brindle pieds.
Rebel passed away on July 13, 2006. He is deeply mourned by Carol and Barb, and by his owners, the Kurata family of Japan. We are thankful to them for their loving care of Rebbie. We still have a very limited amount of frozen semen on Rebel, look forward to using it on a future generation of our dogs.
