A monk asked Chao-chou:
"Does a dog have Buddha-nature or not?"
Chao-chou replied: "Mu (He does not)."Students of Buddhism do not interpret this to mean that a dog lacks Buddha-nature, but rather that Buddha-Nature is inherent in dogs, yet unawaked. Journey is an exception to this, in that her Buddha-mind is both awake and enlightened. We had long wondered what Journey and her equally enlightened sister Ellie were thinking about when they would stare at a tree for hours, or get lost gazing at a rock for half of the day. We've since come to realize that they are, in fact, practicing a deeply enlightened form of meditation. This has resulted in the emptiness of Journey's Buddha-nature - "empty of is not its own ever-enduring reality but of impermanence, impurity, moral defects, and suffering - in other words, the painful constrictions and imperfections of samsara".
In more practical terms, Journey is a beautiful bitch with a gorgeous, huge head and outstanding conformation. She's got her mom's mellow personality, and we're really looking forward to getting her out and finished very soon.
Journey wishes you Namaste, and posits that the sound of one tail wagging is pretty much the same as the sound that two makes. Oh, and she's going to try to have puppies this summer.
