Re: Rumors of Ch. Bullmarket Versace's '97 WKC BoB Win Being Not Valid I was disappointed, to say the least, to learn that Beth and Mark Carr were claiming publicly at the FBDCA Nationals in Texas that Versace's BOB win at the 1997 Westminster Kennel Club show had been 'revoked'. This came as a shock to us, but, since I found it impossible to believe that supposedly reputable competitors would repeat such a damaging piece of information without verification, I felt the onus was on me to discover the truth of their claim. Initially, I contacted David Frei of the Westminster Kennel Club, in New York City. David was very helpful, but unfortunately he had no access to breed win records prior to 1999. He sent me to Dorrie Crowe, of MBF Show Secretary Services in North Carolina. Dorrie informed that such a revocation would have been done by the American Kennel Club, and suggested I contact their show records department. I was then able to speak to Pat Lejman at the AKC, who was very sympathetic, and was able to look up Versace's records right away. She was able to confirm that Versace's Best of Breed win on February 10th, 1997, indeed still stands, and that there is seemingly no reason for anyone to claim otherwise. Three days worth of stress and long distance phone calls may seem like a waste of time simply to verify something we, as Versace's co-breeders and former owners, were already aware of, but I feel it was worthwhile simply for my own peace of mind. Pat Lejman suggests that anyone who still has issues with Versace's win is welcome to either contact her directly, or to order a copy of his show win record from the AKC website at akc.org . A copy of Pat's email to us follows this letter. Any further correspondence we receive on this matter will also be added to this web page.
