New photos and a new photo blog

French Bulldog Traffic JamI just uploaded a bunch of photos to Flickr.

There are some of Delilah, looking cute, some of Elliott, looking cute.. well, you get the idea. There’s a plethora of French Bulldog cuteness going on.

All of that photo posting, and the (hopefully) upcoming litters reminded me of something I’d been meaning to do – start a  dedicated blog for my French Bulldog photos and videos.

Personally, it drives me nuts when I visit a blog and get bogged down in a ton of photos. I’m on satellite – slow, slow satellite – and a photo heavy blog can slow me to a crawl. I assume that the same holds true for other people, as well. Still, I like uploading photos, so I decided to start a blog just to feature my French Bulldog photos.

It’s where I’ll be posting samples from some of my favorite sets uploaded to Flickr, as well as the newest videos of the pups or of the dogs being silly. I’ll add notes in my main blog posts here, so you’ll know where to find them, but this way you’ll have a choice.

Evaluating Embedded Video Players

As you might have noticed, I usually use the YouTube video player when I’m embedding a video in a blog entry. This is because YouTube is the ‘standard’ for embedded video, and certainly not because it is the best.

The best, in my opinion, is Blip.Tv

The videos retain more of their original quality, the screen size is more generous, and the player is cleaner looking. I’ve heard from a few people that they can’t see the Blip player, which means that all of the great qualities in the world are suddenly moot.

Please take a minute and complete this quick poll, and let me know which player you prefer, if you prefer any, and help me decide which format to keep using.

Bad Weather = More Movies

Pool House with SnowMy internet connection has been up and down all day long, due to the absolutely unbelievable amount of snow we’re getting. When the snow piles too high on the satellite dish, or the weather conditions are anything less than perfect, I lose my internet signal. Sweeping snow off the dish sometimes helps, but not always, and not today.

Oh, and I managed to get this entry, and the videos, uploaded by the simple expedient of starting the process, then leaving for a few hours to go shopping, meet a new web client and have some lunch. After all that, most of the first video was almost done loading.

Whee! Country living is great.
